Rexel has always recognised the importance of supporting those embarking on a career in the electrical industry, whether it is our own apprentices or the next generation of electricians, so we were delighted to have the opportunity to support a training provider for recently with a donation of £6,000 in materials for use in practical training sessions for student electricians.
David Knowles, Senior National Account Manager, was introduced to the provider via Procure Plus a commercial, not for profit company that specialises in the procurement of goods and services related to both new-build and repair and maintenance and repairs for a wide range of social housing clients. Discovering that the apprentices needed a constant supply of materials to help hone their skills, he was able to offer a product package comprising a range of installation materials and fittings.
The materials had become available when Rexel’s Smartstock solution was being introduced to a customer, The Liberty Group. The process involved kitting out their van fleet with new stock that would be auto-replenished via an intelligent stock and asset management system. Much of the existing old stock that was removed from the vans was unsaleable with no packaging, so it was an ideal opportunity to put it to good use by making the donation.
A presentation was made at The Greater Manchester SkillCentre, part of The Growth Company, Education and Skills. They have been delivering high quality education and training for over 30 years and the purpose built, state of the art training facility was specifically built for training the next generation of apprentices and trainees.
Damian Ward, Delivery Manager at the Growth Company said, ‘We were delighted to be contacted by Rexel regarding the donation of supplies. Donations such as this support our team at the SkillCentre in the delivery of a fulfilling and enhanced experience to our learners. It is always greatly appreciated to receive donations and create partnerships with companies for the benefit of the students. On behalf of the team and students I would like to thank Rexel for their generosity and look forward to a continuing partnership for many years.’
